And what the hell was that comment imploring the congress to act on human-animal cloning? Did I miss something? Is the Planet of the Apes a reality? Granted that presidents need to propose new initiatives in this thing, but how deep do you have to dig for that?

Cloning is another effective way of pandering to people's fears, just like the gay marriage ammendment to the constitution before the 2004 election. Notice we haven't heard much about the manned trip to Mars before 2030, or other laughable "sounded good on the treadmill" fare.
In the contentious (on this blog) economic realm, I have been especially disappointed in the way we have quietly slid around to record deficits of 400 to 500 billion, with the party of "small government" enjoying a majority in both houses of congress.
