Iran and Opium

This article takes a serious look at life inside Iran. I had no idea Iran leads the world in Opium usage by percent of its population. As expected, this is because nobody has a job and two-thirds of the population is under 30. The article also explains how the current hardline rule sprung from this desperation.

Continuing the parallels evident between Iran and the Third Reich, this seems similar to Germany's situation after WWI when they were punished severely by the Treaty of Versailles. Hitler responded by giving everyone jobs rearming the country. Iran is responding by building nuclear weapons, which engenders a sense of pride in the otherwise forlorn population.

The author reports from the city of Shaft. I wonder if he planned that?

We're stewing in some of our own shit there, like in Iraq. The U.S. played a strong role in shaping the Iran of today. Many inside and outside of Iran would argue that the CIA's overthrow of the prime minister of Iran, Mohammed Mossadegh, in 1953, has contributed directly to the continuing instability of that country (and is probably the fundamental reason they dislike the U.S. so much). The islamic fundamentalists were the main "group of folks" to oppose the American-backed shah, and...now they're in power, and enriching uranium. I don't see a strong parallel between the Third Reich and Iran, but I'm open to convincing...

I think the main reason IRAN and all the other Islamics hate us is our support of Israel and that's it. Something that happened in 1953 is secondary at best. I think there are similarities to Nazis because he is hate-mongering against the jews just like Germany did and in the meantime building a nuclear arsenal, while Hitler built his war machine. This guy is even more dangerous because he believes in an Apocolypse scenario that he is trying to hasten. Give him a head wound to recover from and he'd have AntiChrist written all over him.
