The semicolon should be used to connect what could be two complete sentences, so your sentence doesn't qualify.

Have you read "Eats, Shoots & Leaves"? If you haven't, you should. There's a whole chapter on the semicolon (it's a short book).MikeDhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07481514748318770741noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17703880.post-18448762104951393832008-04-05T18:54:00.000-05:002008-04-05T18:54:00.000-05:00Thanks for the comment, Bruce. I'm a confident badass with the semicolon when it comes to lists of email addressees and other computer related tasks.Stevehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10022956841251987737noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17703880.post-79773815857793921692008-04-05T17:02:00.000-05:002008-04-05T17:02:00.000-05:00As far as the placement on the keyboard, you have ...As far as the placement on the keyboard, you have to remember the qwerty keyboard was designed to slow down the typist... they were trying to avoid the typebars jamming.

As for use, I use it mainly in technical writing to separate lists of items.BruceHhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13358262718404724773noreply@blogger.com
